HORMONE PELLET THERAPY
Restore the vitality of your youth
In order to be most effective, hormone replacement therapy depends heavily on a constant release of hormones to steadily regulate the different hormone levels of both men and women. Pellet therapy is a sustainable hormone delivery method that works by addressing the patient’s needs and releasing the hormones slowly into their body.
What is Hormone Pellet Therapy (HRT)?
Pellet therapy utilizes bioidentical hormones which are natural hormones from plant sources in order to replicate body’s natural regulated hormone levels. In order to be most effective, hormone replacement therapy depends heavily on a constant release of hormones to steadily regulate the different hormone levels of both men and women. Pellet therapy is a sustainable hormone delivery method that works by addressing the patient’s needs and releasing the hormones slowly into their body.
Through elaborate initial evaluation including history gathering and blood testing, hormonal imbalances are detected and the optimal hormonal regimen is suggested. Dr. Azimi then places the pellets under the skin through a painless insertion method.
The pellets then constantly release small doses of hormones in order to provide optimal, consistent results.
Unlike other forms of hormone therapy, such as those taken by mouth or applied to skin which often times trigger fluctuating hormone levels, resulting in mood swings, bioidentical Hormone Pellet Therapy has proven to be the only method of hormone therapy that maintains consistent hormone levels through release in concert with the physiologic and natural needs of the body. These hormone levels remain physiologic for the duration of treatment without side effects related to fluctuation.
What are Hormone Pellets comprised of?
Estrogen and testosterone, gathered from natural plant sources, are the hormones most often given through pellet therapy. Abiding by strict federal guidelines, a compounding pharmacist blends the hormones in the pellets to the specific level needed for the patient.
These pellets measure only a few millimeters long and are placed in the fat tissue underneath the skin. When these pellets are placed, they release a constant dose of hormones to closely mimic the body’s natural hormone regulation functionality. The implantation is an outpatient procedure, quickly performed in our office.
Bio identical Pellet Therapy Vs Synthetic Hormones
It is important to note that the bio identical hormones are not synthetic hormones and DO NOT contain animal derivatives. They are natural and plant based which respond naturally to body’s specific hormonal needs. In body, they form into biologically identical forms of hormones produced naturally. They have proven to be safe, without side effects and without requiring any extra pills, creams or injections.
Candidates For bio identical Pellet Hormone Therapy
Most adults who are experiencing symptoms of a hormone imbalance or adrenal fatigue are good candidates. Symptoms suggestive of hormone imbalance include:
- Decreased sex drive
- Weight gain, especially around the midsection
- Painful intercourse and vaginal dryness
- Brain fog
- Insomnia (sleep disorders)
- Night sweats
- Fatigue and low energy
- Hot flashes • Anxiety
What Are Estrogen Pellets?
Estrogen pellets resemble a grain of rice. They are made of tightly-bound powdered estrogen that has been derived from plant sources of estradiol.
What Conditions Can Estrogen Pellets Treat?
Increasing estrogen as needed, in order to reach an adequate balance with other hormones, including progesterone and testosterone, can ease the various peri menopausal symptoms. Additionally, research suggests that appropriate hormone balancing treatments can decrease a woman’s risk of osteoporosis, mood symptoms, and cardiovascular conditions.
What Are Testosterone Pellets?
Bio identical testosterone that replicates the chemical structure of the hormone made by the body. Testosterone pellets contain condensed powder in small doses which gradually breaks down in subcutaneous tissue as the body absorbs testosterone as needed for optimal hormone function.
Symptoms Of Low Testosterone In Men
A man with low testosterone may experience a wide variety of symptoms, including:
- Erectile dysfunction, the inability to get or keep an erection
- Decreased libido (sex drive)
- Weight gain, particularly in the midsection
- Decreased mental capacity and memory/brain fog
- Chronic tiredness fatigue
- Loss of muscle mass
What Conditions Can Testosterone Pellets Treat?
Studies have shown when a man’s testosterone levels are restored to an optimal level, he obtains a multitude of benefits. These include improvements in blood pressure, improvement in immunity, stronger bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments, and protection against cardiovascular diseases, potential protection against high cholesterol, and dementia. Medical records show a man’s testosterone levels often times start to decline once he reaches his 30s. Most men will benefit from checking their testosterone levels beginning in their 40’s.
What Is The In-Office Pellet Insertion Process?
Pellet insertion is usually a 30-60 minute office procedure including a medical office visit. It is a quick outpatient procedure with minimal discomfort.
How often is treatment needed?
The body gradually absorbs the pellets over the course of 3 to 6 months. The frequency of reinsertion depends on factors such as patient’s weight, gender, the degree of deficiency, and absorption rate. Dr. Azimi will require patients to repeat lab work periodically to measure hormone levels. This measurement guides treatment going forward and help guide us to the need for adjustments. Depending on the results, patients can repeat treatment 2 to 4 times a year.
Is there any downtime Following Insertion?
Patients are able to walk and perform most normal daily activities after pellet treatment. However, it is necessary to avoid bathtubs, hot tubs, and swimming pools for 48 hours. Strenuous activity, especially lower body exercise, should also be postponed until the incision has healed approximately 3-5 days post insertion.
